Blue Hawaiian Green Tea by The Spice and Tea Exchange (Blowing Rock, NC)

The Blowing Rock location is nestled in the quaint town in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s a beautiful drive and an adoring town. Boone, NC, Grandfather Mountain, and Tweetsie Railroad are among the things to do and see in the area.
Entering the store, you’re immediately greeted with knowledgeable, foodie enthusiasts. Smell and taste everything! Ask questions and receive flavor suggestions. It’s quite difficult to walk out empty-handed.
The Spice and Tea Exchange carries a wide variety of spices, spice blends, salts, sugars, teas, and more! The “more” includes teapots and diffusers, honey, mortar and pestle sets, salt cellars, and on and on…

The Blue Hawaiian Green loose tea, just one of the aromatic teas, is a green tea blend. You’ll bring your water temperature up to 185 for this green tea. A digital thermometer or tea kettle with regulated temperature settings is very handy. Easy-to-understand information is on each label, which I love.
My simple syrup uses vanilla bean seeds, scrapped from a vanilla bean. Don’t throw that vanilla bean away! See my Vanilla Sugar recipe for use!
This recipe is for a single serving. However, this loose tea blend can be steeped twice! See Notes in the recipe card below the instructions.
I have a hot version of the Blue Hawaiian tea coming very soon!
Enjoy!

Blue Hawaiian Green Tea (Iced) by The Spice and Tea Exchange (Blowing Rock, NC)
Ingredients
Pineapple Simple Syrup:
- 2 tablespoons The Spice and Tea Exchange "Pineapple Sugar", link HERE
- 2 tablespoons filtered water
- 1/4 of a vanilla bean, scraped, see Notes
Tea:
- 1 1/2 tablespoons The Spice and Tea Exchange "Blue Hawaiian Green Tea", link HERE
- 10 ounces filtered water
- ice cubes, for serving
Instructions
- In a small, glass bowl or glass measuring cup, add the Pineapple Sugar, water, and vanilla bean seeds.
- Microwave for about 15 to 20 seconds or until the mixture just begins to boil. Don’t walk away from the microwave.
- Stir or swirl and microwave for another 15 to 20 seconds.
- Microwave for another 15 seconds to completely dissolve the sugar if necessary. Cover and refrigerate the simple syrup.
- Bring the 8 ounces of water to 185 degrees F. A digital thermometer is helpful for checking for accurate temperature. An electric tea kettle can work well, also.
- Add the tea leaves to a tea ball (or diffuser that can fit into a mug or tea cup) and steep the tea for 3 minutes.
- Remove the tea leaves and discard. You are left with a beautiful blue-green tea in your glass/mug. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours or overnight, until the tea has chilled.
- Add the desired amount of simple syrup to the tea. The simple syrup recipe can be easily doubled. Serve over ice.
