Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, light or dark brown
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, hot or mild
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 3 tablespoons molasses (not sorghum)
  • 2 teaspoons golden mustard, not yellow mustard, I like Gulden's brand
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke, optional

Instructions

  • Place all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
  • Stirring often, simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the sugar to melt and the flavors to marry.
  • Serve warm with barbecue, burgers, etc.

Notes

The sauce can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It can be frozen up to 6 months in the freezer, in a freezer-safe, airtight container.
