DIY Taco Seasoning (Salt-free)

Making homemade Taco Seasoning allows you to control what goes into your spice blend. How great is that?

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespooon dark chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground chipotle pepper, (or ancho, or other specialty ground chile powder)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika, hot or mild
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Mexican oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander

Optional:

  • kosher salt, or other salt, to taste
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons ground cayenne, or to taste

Instructions
 

  • Combine all the ingredients together very well. Store in an airtight container, preferably glass.
  • The seasoning will keep for 6 months up to a year, depending on the freshness of the spices you've used. Label your storage container with the name and date.
